How does X10 work without wires?

X10 is a communications language, which allows you to control lights, appliances and other equipment in your house via the existing 220-230V electrical wiring in your house. No costly rewiring is necessary.

X10 Home Automation products are designed to be installed & moved by even the most technically challenged individuals. So whether you rent or own your house / flat / apartment - X-10 is for you!

X10 is a simple concept – it consists of only two things:

1) TRANSMITTERS Transmitters send a signal over the existing power line to the Receivers. The Receivers then perform the command they have received from the Transmitter like ON, OFF, DIM, BRIGHT, OPEN, CLOSE,Transmitters exists as an infrared or RF Remote control, Computer, Telephone, Voice,... e.g. Transceiver module, Computer interface, Security Controller, etc.

2) RECEIVERS Receivers perform commands they receive sent to them by Transmitters and can turn ON, turn OFF, DIM, BRIGHT, OPEN, CLOSE, appliances, lights or other equipment in the house. Receivers exist in many forms depending on what they have to control: plug-in modules, Wall switches, low voltage modules, DIN-Rail Modules, drapery control units, etc... e.g. Lamp module, Wall Dimmer switch, Din-Rail Dimmer, etc.

With X10 you can control virtually everything in your house by simply stating a verbal command, by a remote control, automated or by pushing the buttons on your phone – it’s that simple!
